Privacy Policy for FitTimer
Last Updated: March 16, 2026
Overview
FitTimer is a privacy-first workout timer application for Android. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how long we retain it, and your rights regarding your data.
Key Principle: FitTimer does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to external servers. All data remains exclusively on your device.
1. Information Collection and Use
1.1 Health and Fitness Data
FitTimer accesses and stores the following health and fitness data locally on your device to provide workout tracking functionality:
| Data Type | Examples | Purpose |
| Workout session data | Date, duration, completion status | Track your workout history and progress |
| Exercise performance data | Exercise names, sets, reps, weights (kg/lbs) | Record and display your exercise performance |
| Workout intervals | Rest periods, exercise duration, countdown timers | Manage workout timing and rest periods |
| Workout statistics | Aggregated workout history, trends | Display your fitness progress over time |
| Custom workout routines | User-created workout templates, exercise lists | Allow you to create and reuse workout plans |
Important: All health and fitness data is:
- Stored only on your local device in a SQLite database
- Never transmitted to any external server, cloud service, or third party
- Never used for advertising, analytics, or any purpose other than providing the app's workout tracking features
- Fully owned and controlled by you, the user
1.2 App Preferences (Non-Health Data)
Local settings are stored using Android SharedPreferences and include:
- Theme preference (light/dark mode)
- Weight unit preference (kg/lbs)
- Language preference
- Volume and sound settings
- User interface customizations
These preferences are not health data and are used solely to customize your app experience.
1.3 What We Do NOT Collect
FitTimer does not collect or transmit:
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, age, etc.)
- Location data
- Device identifiers or IMEI numbers
- User account information or login credentials
- Analytics or usage telemetry
- Crash reports or error logs
- Biometric data (heart rate, blood pressure, etc.)
- Any data to external servers
2. Data Storage, Retention, and Security
2.1 Local Storage Only
All data is stored locally on your Android device:
- Health and fitness data: SQLite database (via Drift)
- App preferences: Android SharedPreferences
- No cloud storage or backup: Your data is never uploaded to any server
2.2 Data Retention Period
- Workout and health data is retained on your device indefinitely until you choose to delete it. There is no automatic expiration or deletion.
- App preferences are retained until you change them or uninstall the app.
- FitTimer does not set any automatic data retention limits because all data is stored locally on your device and is fully under your control.
2.3 Data Security
- All data is stored within the app's private storage area, protected by Android's built-in app sandboxing security model.
- No data is transmitted over the internet, eliminating risks of data interception.
3. Data Deletion
You have full control over your data and can delete it at any time using the following methods:
3.1 Delete Data Within the App
- Delete individual workout records: Navigate to the workout history screen, swipe or select a workout session, and tap the delete button to remove individual records.
- Delete all workout history: Go to Settings > Delete All Data to remove all workout history, exercise logs, and statistics at once.
- Delete custom workouts: Navigate to the workout list, swipe or select a custom workout, and tap the delete button.
3.2 Delete Data via Android System Settings
- Clear app data: Go to Android Settings > Apps > FitTimer > Storage > Clear Data. This removes all workout data, preferences, and settings.
- Clear app cache: Go to Android Settings > Apps > FitTimer > Storage > Clear Cache. This removes temporary cached data only.
3.3 Delete Data by Uninstalling
Uninstalling the app removes all stored data permanently from your device, including:
- All workout history and session data
- All exercise performance records (health and fitness data)
- All custom workout routines
- All app preferences and settings
Note: Once deleted, data cannot be recovered. FitTimer does not maintain any backups, cloud copies, or server-side records of your data.
4. Permissions and Device Features
Permissions

| SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW | Display floating timer overlay over other apps during workouts (user must grant in app settings) |
